Locations for Outdoor Shoot in Montreal
Let’s face the truth. Summer is short-lived in Montreal and so are the beautiful colors of the fall. A photography session in the beautiful outdoors of the city is a fantastic way to remember the season. Outdoor shoots can be done for all types of memories - maternity bumps, children milestones, engagement photography or family photoshoots that include your extended uncles and aunts.
One of the questions I get asked a lot is, “What location is the best for an outdoor photography session?” We are so lucky to have so many incredible locations to get photos done right on the island of Montreal. Since I do a lot of shoots outside, I can help make the best decision for you and your family depending on the type of the photoshoot.
I have a few locations that work extremely in-line with the soft-dreamy portraits that we all dream of…
1. The whole stretch of lake that begins from Dorval to Pointe Claire With the lake on the side and gigantic trees, this is a perfect place for lakeside photos in West Island. The stretch is long, walk/drive your way to find a secluded spot. Don’t forget to pack a picnic basket for yourself - you might be famished after the session.
2. Centre de-la Nature, Laval Now, this is not exactly in Montreal, but it is such a beautiful gem. Gazebos, gigantic green lawns and tiny bridges that will give you the feels. The park is huge, so bring your strong legs to do some walking.
3. Your favorite park in your neighbourhood.
Sometimes for young families it’s not always easy to drive to a location that is 25 minutes away. Honestly, that is the perk of living in Montreal which supports great park infrastructure. Every neighborhood has a park that can be used beautifully for a photoshoot.
4. Old Port of Montreal
If you are looking for a more vintage, old city kind of photos, the old port of Montreal serves up great views of stone buildings that can work as an amazing backdrop. It also has a bunch of cute cafes with astounding awnings. We can meet up at one of these cafes, discuss the kind of photos you’d like - dramatic/ moody/ bright and then walk around the blocks finding the best ‘photographer’ light.
5. Montreal Botanical Gardens
The huge gardens in east Montreal offer a wide variety of stunning landscapes and green spaces. In blooming seasons, I like to use different flowering trees as backdrops. For soft photos, photos can also be used as a foreground.
Send me a message to discuss the best location based on your photography session.
